Jill Poczkai Ibsen (b. 1975, Sønderborg, Denmark) is a Danish visual artist working across textiles, photography, video, sound, and installation. Her practice explores how memory and relationships take material and visual form. Personal experience provides a starting point for wider questions of identity, care, belonging, and dignity, with particular attention to connections beyond words and the traces carried by bodies and materials.

Textile is central to the practice, both as material and as a way of thinking. An extensive knowledge of textile materials and traditions informs an approach in which techniques are adapted, interrupted, or used in unexpected ways. Craft knowledge supports the work, while form and meaning guide its development.

Photography, video, and sound record bodies, gestures, voices, and situations, exploring the relationship between what is present, what is absent, and what remains unspoken. Across media, the works connect individual experience with shared questions through image, material, and space.

Years of working with textiles in fashion and theatre provide a practical foundation for this approach. A sustained interest in the physical qualities of textiles and the histories they carry—in both raw and worked forms, and through traces of use and alteration—finds expression in sculptural works and installations.

She lives and works in Copenhagen.
